Otara Gunewardene, founder and CEO of Odel, has been announced as the newest Brand Ambassador for Earth Hour Sri Lanka.
From Sir Richard Branson to Miranda Kerr to Leona Lewis, celebrity ambassadors have always been a big part of Earth Hour’s campaign to get people involved. This year, the organizers at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) partnered with a movie release, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” to inspire fans of the super hero to participate. Gunewardene joins current Earth Hour Sri Lanka ambassadors for four years, Bathiya & Santhush along with these global ambassadors around the world to support the world’s largest mass participation event that has become the iconic symbol of people’s commitment to protect the planet.
As an ambassador, Gunewardene calls upon all individuals, businesses and local communities to participate in Earth Hour’s monumental lights off
So join me and millions across the world when we switch off for an hour on the 29th of March.”
“The choices we all make in our daily lives can make an enormous difference, not only to our children, but also to the very planet on which we live in. Earth Hour gives you the power to inspire; so switch off the lights and turn on your heart” Gunewardene further added. To support Earth Hour 2014 on March 29 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, individuals, businesses and local communities are requested to sign up on the official Earth Hour Sri Lanka website (www.earthhour.lk). By signing up on the website and participating in the global ‘switch off’, Sri Lankans will be able to join millions of others from around the world to demonstrate a commitment to save the planet.
