Virtusa Sri Lanka joins Earth Hour 2013 by requesting Virtusans to shut down their computers to save energy and attend an educational presentation and discussion on reducing environmental footprint followed by an un-plugged music session on 22nd Friday from 3.30 to 4.30pm. The invitation has been extended to all employees of other IT firms at Orion City premises as well.
During the past month, info mailers on saving the planet were circulated within the company to create awareness among Virtusans about the cause and educating them as to how they as individuals can contribute towards saving the planet, taking the effort ‘beyond the hour’. On 23rd Saturday, a text message will be sent out to all Virtusans to switch off lights and all unnecessary equipment during the official Earth Hour.
As a member of the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM), Virtusa is also taking the leadership in spreading the message to member companies to make an effort to contribute towards Earth Hour 2013. Virtusa’s Advanced Technology Centers in Hyderabad and Chennai will also be taking various initiatives to observe Earth Hour 2013, hence making the event a global effort.
